The Story

Riverside Furniture traces its roots to 1946, when Herman Udouj started it in Fort Smith, Arkansas after his Marine Corps service in World War II. The company began in a roughly 5,000-square-foot building making baby beds and grew steadily into new product lines.

Today Riverside is a broad-line home furnishings manufacturer whose customers include a majority of the top 100 American furniture retailers. It positions itself as "the most fashion-forward, well-priced furniture line in America," with thousands of items across many lifestyle-themed collections.

Materials & Construction

Riverside makes both wood and upholstered home furnishings across bedroom, dining, home office, occasional, and home-theater categories. All Riverside finishes go through a multi-step finishing process; specific species and construction are given per collection.

Care & Cleaning

General guidance from Riverside. Always follow the tag on your specific piece.

Wood & general

Clean any surface with a damp, clean dust cloth, using a mild detergent only where a cloth alone won't do it. Avoid oil-based and direct-spray polishes, which cause waxy build-up. Use coasters — hot items can soften the finish, and spills can make it bubble or discolor. Place protective pads beneath lamps, accessories, and on writing surfaces, and don't set rubber or vinyl directly on the surface.

Environment

Keep humidity moderate — sustained humidity above 60% swells wood and distorts components, while below 20% causes warping and splitting. Fluctuating humidity can damage finishes.

Moving

Empty contents before moving. Lift from the strongest support points rather than by tabletops or legs, wrap in soft padding, and never slide furniture across floors — it can break joints and damage legs.
